Summary:

The Journeyman Systems Administrator will monitor daily operations, including server hardware, software, and operating systems.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:
• Installing operating system software, patches, and upgrades
• Analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving system hardware, software, and networking issues
• Configuring, optimizing, fine-tuning, and monitoring operating system software and hardware
• Performing system backups and recovery
• Conducting server builds
• Coordinating technology installations, upgrades, and maintenance.
• Selecting and purchasing new and replacement hardware and software, when necessary.
• Testing, troubleshooting, and modifying information systems so that they operate effectively.
• Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments
• Plans and leads major technology assignments
• Evaluates performance results and recommends major changes affecting short-term project growth and success
• Functions as a technical expert across multiple project assignments
• May supervise others

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
• Possess strong problem-solving, analytical and communication skills, in addition to in-depth technical knowledge of the Government’s system’s hardware and software
• Demonstrate a detailed knowledge of the industry’s best practices and evidence a professional track record of effective technical management, information analysis, and a thorough understanding of computer hardware and software systems
• Must Highly-organized, methodical self-starter who will bring to the role their knowledge and experience operationalizing information technology principles and best practices, their solid business instincts and judgment, and their excellent project management and communication skills

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor degree in a STEM field or equivalent years of experience
• 3 - 5 years of related experience working with the specific types of hardware and software systems used by the Government are required
• Professional certifications such as the Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or Sun Certified System Administrator (SCSA) are also valuable
• Top Secret Personnel clearance with eligibility for access to SCI
