What are we looking for?

As a Database Administrator within the IT Department at Glencore Coal Assets Australia, you will play a vital role in maintaining and optimising database systems and server infrastructure across the Australian Coal Operations. Your contributions will directly impact our dynamic IT team, ensuring seamless operations and innovation within the coal sector.

Role And Responsibilities
• Database Management:
• Administer, monitor, and maintain SQL Server databases to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability.
• Implement and manage database backups, recovery procedures, and disaster recovery plans.
• Collaborate with development teams to optimize SQL queries and database design.
• Infrastructure Management:
• Configure, monitor, and maintain Windows operating systems to ensure a stable and secure environment.
• Collaborate with the IT infrastructure team to ensure seamless integration of databases with other enterprise systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to database and infrastructure performance.
• Security and Compliance:
• Implement and enforce security best practices for databases and infrastructure components.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal security policies.
• Performance Tuning:
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in collaboration with development and infrastructure teams.
• Conduct regular performance tuning activities to optimize database and system performance.
• Strategic:
• Identify areas for continuous improvement including automation, capacity planning and uplifting database standards
• Identify the right Database model for the enterprise and per solution including Platform/Infrastructure As A Service, Private Cloud and On-Prem
• Documentation:
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for databases, infrastructure configurations, and related processes.

About You
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Database Administrator with expertise in SQL Server.
• Solid understanding of Windows operating systems and related infrastructure components.
• Familiarity with VMWare virtualization technologies.
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
