ABOUT THE ROLE
Peloton is looking for a self-motivated, dynamic lawyer with experience at a top law firm or in-house practice to join our German legal team! As Counsel for Germany, you will support the Senior Counsel in providing legal support for all aspects of our German business. The Counsel, Germany will be responsible for advising internal clients with a focus on marketing, advertising compliance, and consumer law compliance, as well as commercial (business to business), corporate wellness, and partnerships related to Peloton’s expansion in Germany and the DACH region. This position will require a detailed understanding of Peloton’s multifaceted business, including its suppliers, partners, members, and competitors, in order to support the achievement of a variety of business objectives.

YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON

• Assist with the management of a wide variety of legal matters affecting the German business including consumer law compliance, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, customer support issues and marketing and media-related matters including advertising campaigns, social media reviews, asset and lockup reviews
• Work closely with internal partners (primarily in the German business) to support their objectives and advise on legal risks and opportunities related to their strategy
• Collaborate closely with senior US-based attorneys on implications of European business activities on the broader corporate organization and support their risk management efforts
• Engage and lead outside counsel for subject matter areas or jurisdictional questions that require particular expertise
• Assist with the development and implementation of process improvements, and regular training for various business audiences within Peloton relating to relevant legal topics
• Understand and take steps to mitigate key legal risks, and handle disputes as they arise
• Support the People team in personnel matters and compliance with employment laws
• Institute appropriate compliance programs, including anti-bribery, competition, and GDPR

YOU BRING TO PELOTON

• 3+ years working at a top law firm or in-house role, with a focus on consumer law, marketing and advertising and technology-related matters (in-house or secondment experience preferred)
• Experience drafting and negotiating agency service agreements, production agreements, and general commercial agreements
• Experience with drafting and assisting with contests, promotions, sweepstakes, and giveaways
• Knowledge about the consumer tech world, familiarity with online issues such as e-commerce
• Outstanding critical thinking skills, with a bias for action and confidence to make informed decisions that have both legal and business implications
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be an independent and strategic problem solver who is a strong teammate (no job is too small or too large) and willing to tackle additional responsibilities
• Superb organizational skills
• Enjoy working in a fast-paced, innovative business
• Solid understanding of European privacy and data security legislation
• Qualified to practice law in Germany (additional qualifications in the UK or other EU jurisdictions are a plus)
