Role & responsibilities:
1. Database Design and Implementation:
Design, implement, and maintain PostgreSQL/MySQL database structures to meet organizational requirements.
Ensure efficient and secure storage, retrieval, and management of data.
2. Installation and Configuration:
Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL/MySQL database management systems and related software.
Ensure proper functionality and performance of both database environments.
3. Data Security:
Implement and maintain security measures for PostgreSQL/MySQL databases to prevent unauthorized access.
Monitor and audit user access, ensuring data confidentiality and integrity.
4. Backup and Recovery:
Develop and implement backup and recovery procedures for both PostgreSQL/MySQL databases.
Regularly test and update backup and recovery processes.
5. Performance Tuning:
Monitor and optimize the performance of PostgreSQL/MySQL databases.
Analyze query execution plans, indexing strategies, and other factors to enhance efficiency.
6. Capacity Planning:
Assess current and future capacity requirements for both PostgreSQL/MySQL databases.
Plan for and implement capacity expansions as needed.
7. Database Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as applying patches and updates, for PostgreSQL/ MySQL environments.
Optimize database operations to ensure continuous and reliable performance.
8. Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and resolve database-related issues for both PostgreSQL/MySQL.
Collaborate with other IT professionals to address system errors and performance challenges.
9. Data Migration:
Manage data migration processes between PostgreSQL/MySQL systems.
Upgrade database software and ensure data integrity during migrations.
10. Collaboration:
Work closely with developers, system administrators, and other IT team members.
Ensure seamless integration of PostgreSQL/MySQL database systems with other components of the IT infrastructure.
Qualifications:
Is Education overrated? Yes. We believe so. However there is no way to locate you
otherwise. So unfortunately we might have to look for a Bachelor's or Master's degree
in engineering from a reputed institute or you should be programming from 12. And the
latter is better. We will find you faster if you specify the latter in some manner. Not just
a degree, but we are not too thrilled by tech certifications too ... :)
To reiterate: Passion to tech-awesome, insatiable desire to learn the latest of the
new-age cloud tech, highly analytical aptitude and a strong desire to deliver outlives
those fancy degrees!
• 3-8 years experience in Cloud Database Administration
• Proficient in PostgreSQL/MySQL database management, including installation, configuration, and performance tuning.
• Proven experience as a Database Administrator with a focus on PostgreSQL/MySQL.
• In-depth knowledge of database design, implementation, and management for both PostgreSQL/MySQL environments.
• Familiarity with database security, backup procedures, and performance tuning for both systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., PostgreSQL Certified Professional, MySQL Database Administrator) are a plus.
Skills:
• Expertise in PostgreSQL/MySQL database management systems.
• SQL programming and query optimization for both databases.
• Data modeling and database design for PostgreSQL/MySQL.
• Backup and recovery procedures for both environments.
