JOB SUMMARYThe Staff Nurse provides professional nursing care for patients according to established Nursing standards.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES1. Performs general nursing care to patients. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards, where necessary.2. Observes, records relevant initial patients history and reports changes and concerns on patient’s condition to physicians and specialists.3. Greets patients, prepares them for examination and screens for appropriate information. Instructs patients in collection of specimen and preparation for (lab, x-ray, etc.) tests.4. Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.5. Educates patients and provides information to patients seeking health information.6. Instructs patient & family regarding medications & treatment instructions as ordered and gives pre-operative instructions to surgical patients in collaboration with the physicians.7. Maintains exam rooms with necessary supplies .Prepares list of medical supplies and orders consumables/supplies as per par level.8. Ensures checking of stocks and equipments’ on regular basis for maintaining the inventory level & expiration.9. Observes and utilizes Infection Control (IC) guidelines/standards in patient care and in handling of all instruments & specimens. Notifies IC nurse for all suspected infection cases.10. Maintains hygienic and safe working environment in compliance with the healthcare procedures.11. Oversees appointment bookings and ensures that preferences are given to patients in emergency situations. Maintains timely flow of patients.12. Arranges for patient testing, admissions, with other department and work collaboratively with other members of health care team.13. Maintains and reviews patients’ records, for pertinent information regarding follow-up. Posts tests and examination results in patient’s file and reports any abnormalities to the doctor.14. Maintains and collects patient’s medical data as requested by the medical records. Ensures strictest confidentiality.15. Enters patient visits in the log register & in the computer, ensures that all consultation slips are forwarded to Medical Records.16. Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls in a pleasant professional manner.17. Attends/participates in proactive in-service programs necessary in providing good customer friendly service.18. Attends meetings and participates in committees as required. Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations. EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing. Current CPR/BLS certification.Licensing: Valid License from Ministry of Health to work as a Registered Nurse.EXPERIENCE: 3 years’ experience in clinical practice.
