Your Role

We’re looking for an energetic customer-centric UX Designer to join The Sun Technology UX &

Design team.

In this role, you will report to the Head of UX & Design for The Sun and will work closely with the

other team members across our digital products on app and web.

Focusing on discovery, research, testing and designing to continuously improve our products

and experiences. Your role will be pivotal to ensure that our ideas are reflective of our brand

and our users.

You’ll be hands-on and willing to work in a fast paced, ever-moving environment. You’ll keep

up-to-date with the latest trends and have a passion for storytelling and usability.

Day to day responsibilities

● Create best in class designs that shape unique, user-centric products and

experiences.

● Develop the understanding of our customers - current and potential users, their

demographic and behavioural segmentation, target audiences and user personas.

● Apply user-centered design approaches to address complex design problems and

provide sound design solutions.

● Use both quant and qual research showcased by using a range of methodologies.

● Ideate and create deliverables such as user flows, information architecture,

wireframes and interactive prototypes.

● Work closely with the UI Designers to ensure designs are aligned with research,

analytics and testing.

● Champion usability and accessibility standards

● Present and defend your design decisions. All your design decisions should be based

on research and testing.

● Participate in kick-offs, workshops and regular knowledge sharing sessions

● Lead and execute usability studies, testing and competitor analysis.

● Ensure that the practice of user research, analytics and testing are built into the

product design and development life-cycle.

● Work with product managers and delivery teams during and after build to ensure a

unified customer experience.

What we’re looking for

● A design degree or equivalent qualification.

● Experience in Figma.

● Strong understanding of user needs and business needs

● Experience working across mobile first responsive web and native apps.

● Experience working in collaborative environments alongside other UX Designers, UI

designers, as well as wider disciplines including Engineers, Business Analysts, Product

owners and executives in the business.

● Be comfortable with a range of activities from conceiving ideas to crafting

documentation (scenarios, wireframes, user flows)

● Experience in conducting moderated and unmoderated user studies, guerilla

research, A/B testing.

● Strong ideation skills and the ability to form these into solid, validated ideas.

● Experience working with senior level stakeholders.

● Strong Prototyping and presentation skills. Storytelling with every project with

documentation where necessary.

● Ability to manage time well and respond to time constraints accordingly.

● Some previous experience or an interest in news and publishing is desirable.
