Role description:

Arcadis is the world’s leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets. Our Environmental Business Line is seeking an Engineer to grow and support our team at our Irvine, California location. We are looking for a candidate with strong organizational and team building skills, who can thrive within a dynamic workflow. This position offers the flexibility of working remotely / work-from-home as appropriate.

You will collaborate with Senior Scientists/Engineers, Project/Program Managers, and recognized Technical Experts on various activities and develop your technical experience on diverse environmental assessment and remediation projects for industrial and federal clients. In this role, you will grow and expand your engineering skills by producing innovative solutions for challenging projects while navigating project success through interactions with clients, stakeholders, and regulators. As part of this team, you will support and advance our growing emerging contaminant project portfolio and remediation capabilities. You will develop your leadership skills and have mentorship opportunities as you direct junior engineers and other staff.

Role accountabilities:

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Engineering design and treatment system optimization support
• Providing program support to a variety of projects underway for the US Federal Government and industrial clients.
• Travel (25%): assisting in the field with investigations and sampling, conducting pilots and full-scale remedial efforts, and participating in face-to-face client, technical, and other stakeholder meetings.
• Assisting with the development of technical reports, presentations, cost-estimates, and proposals
• Working effectively with local, national, and global technical and client teams.
• Preparing Feasibility Studies
• Developing visual, graphical, and tabular summaries of environmental data and trends
• Coordinating work schedules with subcontractors
• Conducting project related research (historical data, regulations, etc.)
• Oversee scope of work and the operational workload of a project team including sub-contractors, ensuring work is allocated appropriately and resources are fully utilized
• Work collaboratively with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design or solution
• Manage the performance of team members and sub-contractors, identifying and ensuring the resolution of any issues
• Manage the production of, and quality assure analysis and design and the associated documentation and reports to ensure they meet or exceed client expectations as well as Arcadis requirements, and they comply with national standards and codes of practice
• Present and gain agreement of design options and opportunities to maximize the profitability of design components and drive the implementation of these
• Develop effective working relationships with the Project Director or Manager and with the client to ensure there is effective communication of progress and changes, as well as the resolution of issues
• Support the Project Director or Manager in the commercial management of the project (e.g. contract, invoicing, debt, etc.) to ensure a successful result
• Lead and provide direction and technical advice to team members, to support them in their delivery on the project and in their professional development
• Develop and maintain a good understanding of the services delivered by Arcadis, of the client’s business and the industry sector to facilitate personal networking and to consolidate personal and company credibility in the industry

Key skills:
• Experience in Oil & Gas sector, Energy sector, or Chemical sector
• Experience with soil vapor investigation, remediation and regulatory compliance is a plus
• Proficient with Microsoft Office-based software programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing.
• Focus on health and safety
• Demonstrated teambuilding and organizational skills

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent in an appropriate area, or closely related field
• 5 or more years’ relevant work experience
• Professional Engineer (PE) in California

Preferred Qualifications:
• M.S. in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Hydrogeology, or closely related field

The salary range for this position is $104,920 - 125.00 / year.
