Opportunity

We are seeking a suitably experienced Process Safety Engineer to be part of our Process Safety Team at our Kinleith Mill (a Upper Tier Major Hazard Facility) championing process safety and optimizing processes to ensure a secure working environment.

Reporting to the Safety Case Manager, you will support the ongoing application of the Safety Management System (SMS), the implementation of process safety improvement projects and the facilitation of Process Hazard Analyses at Kinleith. You will engage with the operating business units to apply the key principles of the SMS such as risk assessment including HAZOP, management of change and incident investigation. As a guardian of process safety for Kinleith you will play a key role in the monitoring, auditing and reporting upon the health of the systems established within the SMS.

Your key responsibilities will include:
• Analyse safety incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
• Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety concerns within manufacturing processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize processes, integrating safety measures into design and operation to minimize risks and hazards.
• The scoping and development of process safety improvement projects
• Reviewing and auditing of the Safety Management System to ensure it remains up to date and meets the requirements of the site Safety Case
• Lead initiatives for continuous improvement in safety practices, leveraging data and feedback to enhance safety performance.

The successful applicant will have the following attributes:
• A tertiary qualification in Engineering – Chemical, Process or similar
• Proven experience in safety engineering or process safety within industrial or manufacturing environments. Sound analytical skills, problem solving skills and fact-based decision-making capability.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations, risk assessment methodologies, and process hazard analysis Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to implement practical and effective safety solutions.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
