Position Summary
Under the direction of the Assistant HR Director, this position oversees and performs professional activities related to employee recruitment. Handles recruiting and, onboarding activities for full-time and part-time benefited employees. Serves as backup to part-time HR recruiter on inbound recruitment activities for the variable and seasonal staff and outbound initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
• Conducts recruitment and selection activities for all City personnel vacancies; assists departments with position requisitions and recruitment plans; creates and places job postings; manages applicant tracking system, assists with or conducts applicant screening; conducts candidate assessments and telephonic, video and in-person interviews; serves on interview panels; provides guidance to hiring managers on selection process; conducts reference and background checks; conducts post-offer testing; makes conditional and final employment offers; promptly responds to applicant and candidate inquiries.
• Conducts new employee hiring and onboarding activities for full-time/part-time benefited staff
• Ensures all new employee documentation for full-time and part-time benefitted staff is completed and processes the I-9s for new and terminated full-time/part-time benefited staff.
• Serves as back-up to part-time HR Recruiter with hiring and onboarding activities for variable and seasonal staff
• Participates in outbound recruiting programs and strategies to fill current openings and help build an ongoing, healthy pipeline of qualified candidates. Collaborates with the city’s Communications team on recruitment activities through social media, the city website, and other communications resources.

Additional Examples of Work Performed
• Provides back-up support for compensation, benefits, and leaves of absence and safety and workers’ compensation activities.
• Assists with special projects, events and research activities as requested or required.
• Drives city and/or personal vehicle to meetings, trainings, and events.

Qualifications
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or a related field, and three years of human resource generalist experience, including employee recruitment experience or any combination of education and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must complete required NIMS IS-100 and IS-700 training within three months of employment.

Desired: SHRM/CP or PHR or SHRM/SCP or SPHR certification.

Environmental and Physical Factors
This is physically sedentary work; however, duties may require mobility to visit various City locations. Other physical requirements include the ability to sit for prolonged periods of time; visual acuity; the ability to read alphanumeric data; hearing and speech ability to disseminate and receive information in an effective manner.

Compensation and Benefits
Hiring range is from $59,032 to $68,434 dependent on qualifications and directly related experience. The City of Lenexa offers a comprehensive benefits package including:
