DBA Lead - fully remote in UK/ Germany OR IrelandDBA LEAD

REMOTE WORKING UK / GERMANY /IRELANDOur client is a leading Mobile Carrier Billing organisation looking to grow the team by hiring a Lead DBA on their Data Platform Team.
The Data Platform Team is a small team with big responsibilities, at the heart of all the action.

As such, they are responsible for the production and Dev/QA/Test environments, the flow of data, the monitoring of data, and its various auxiliary data repositories (data warehouse, Hadoop, etc.).

We are looking for someone who can not only get their hands dirty fixing operational issues, but who can also think about the big picture and identify the ramifications of decisions made in one area upon the entire data fabric.

Responsibilities:
Proactively identify areas of improvement for database environment
Troubleshoot, monitor, and optimize performance issues, such as queries or processes
Identify and prototype new technologies to improve performance, reliability, to extend features
Ensure 99.999% uptime of database technologies, including identifying areas for improvement to meet the SLA
Identify and resolve critical production issues with active/active multi-datacenter OLTP environment
Deliver DB automation for environment and deployment configuration
Evolve DB credential and access control configuration and management systems
Deploy, administer, and maintain production MySQL databases
Collaborate with stakeholders such as Engineering on database schema design and performance
Mentor and train database stakeholders to improve database design and usage
Deploy schema changes to production databases
Participate in 24/7 DBA team on-call rotation for production databases
Manage and deliver critical production environment replication and monitoring updates

Required Skills :
10 years DBA experience, of which 5+ should be as a lead DBA.
8+ years of production MySQL database administration (v5.5+) in a live-traffic, large replicated database environment
5+ years of experience with managing database environments on AWS (CentOS/RHEL on EC2, EBS, Redshift, RDS, etc)
Production support experience in an environment with 24/7 uptime
Excellent diagnostic skills to identify bottlenecks or potential issues in a rapidly scaling environment
Amazing understanding of MySQL architecture and management, and InnoDB storage engine
Experience with Continuent Tungsten or other replication/clustering technology
Experience with Multi-site Active-active database topologies
Critical thinker and problem solver, with excellent attention to detail
Strong knowledge of schema design and pitfalls, for custom SaaS development
Strong communication skills for working with various international teams (US, India, Germany, UK)
Self-starter and quick learner, able to work with minimal supervision
Team player with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a range of stakeholders
Fintech or equivalent production ownership experience where mistakes cost money and data is not disposable
Expertise developing ideas that enable support future requirements even though those requirements are not known
Consistently delivers large projects involving one of more teams' contribution, on time and with a high level of quality
Quickly breaks down complex problems into potential solutions, knowns and unknowns, in order to get faster resolutions
Build and introduce systems, tools, policies and procedures that raise the level of productivity of the entire company
Lead the conversations about the direction of major DB initiatives and drive team wide consensus to the adoption of this direction#J-18808-Ljbffr
