About the Position

The Village of Arlington Heights is accepting applications for the position of Civil Engineer II. Under general supervision, the Civil Engineer II will be responsible for supervising the construction of public improvement projects in the Village of Arlington Heights. The Civil Engineer II will act as a project manager and will ensure improvements are being constructed to specifications and with optimal construction quality, cost, and public impact.

The Civil Engineer II will design and prepare plans for public improvements, create RFQ’s and RFP’s, and supervise and coordinate the work of consultants. To ensure the infrastructure in the community remains strong, the Civil Engineer II will maintain a software database for tracking roadway infrastructure condition, and will be a significant contributor in the programming and planning of Village infrastructure related to the Capital Improvement Plan. The Civil Engineer II will be responsible for preparing reports on engineering projects for boards and commissions and for maintaining a resident notification program on projects. This position will also assist in the hiring and daily supervision of several engineering interns.

Qualified candidates must have at least a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and four or more years of experience. A Professional Engineering license and valid Illinois Driver’s License is required. Candidates must be knowledgeable of local, state and federal engineering policies, procedures, codes and construction methods. Strong communication skills to effectively work with residents, consultants, and staff is required.

The salary range for this position is $98,470 – $132,935, with an anticipated hiring range of $98,470 – $110,000, depending on qualifications and experience. This position includes a diverse and competitive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, paid vacation, and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund pension plan.
