Description

Nanomox is seeking a talented and experienced chemical engineer to serve as the engineering lead in the development of its innovative OIS Process. The Lead Chemical Engineer will work closely with the team to bring the technology from the laboratory to commercial scale. This includes taking a lead role in translating laboratory data to plant-scale processes, optimizing the process for commercial-scale production, providing technical expertise in control and operations, collaborating with vendors, and supporting both internal and external stakeholders in executing technical projects.

This role requires a blend of on-site and remote work, with on-site work encouraged when appropriate. As one of the first technical employees, you will play a critical role in establishing lab facilities and protocols and shaping the future direction of the company. What are we looking for?

ESSENTIAL:
• A degree in Chemical Engineering or related fields.
• At least 2 years of relevant industry experience (inorganic material synthesis,
hydrometallurgy or mining processes).
• A strong interest in developing technical solutions for complex problems.
• Demonstrated proficiency in flow sheeting, engineering, and computational software
such as Aspen, AutoCAD, gPROMs, or similar.
• Proven practical skills, comfortable with both hands-on work and desk-based tasks.
• Ability to design and evaluate PFDs & P&IDs.
• Familiarity with hazard and risk identification and mitigation.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, able to lead and collaborate within teams.
• Broad practical skills, including setting up test stands and prototyping.
• Ability to navigate across different domains of knowledge.
• Demonstrated ability to find solutions in unknown and ambiguous situations.
• Clear communication of technology development vision and strategy.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral (English), with the ability to produce
clear reports for both high-level and technical audiences.
• Ability to work independently on multiple projects and manage time effectively.
• Highly self-motivated, with a detail-oriented approach to work.
• Demonstrates professionalism in all interactions, including punctuality, tact, positivity,
flexibility, and cooperation.

DESIRABLE:
• 5 years industry experience working with and leading technical teams for large-scale.
• Experience designing, running and supporting pilots or commercial plants.
• Experience with engineering supply chain management.
• Basic understanding of fundamental crystallization principles and background
industrial chemistry knowledge.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead the design process and vendor engagement for pilot and commercial plants for
the OIS process.
• Collaborate with the project management team to deliver feasibility and pre-FEED level
design and analysis for pilot and commercial systems.
• Analyze data and perform flow sheeting to inform critical plant design requirements.
• Interfacing with lab team and engineering teams to inform other elements of the OIS
process development.
• Apply expertise in process scaling to take ideas from the lab to pilot and commercial
scale systems.
• Develop process flow diagrams and heat and material balances.
• Equipment sizing, including equipment process data sheets preparation and validation
with vendors.
• Liaise with equipment vendors for procurement and installation.
• Conduct techno-economic analysis and life cycle analysis.
• Establish internal procedures for process design and participate in process and safety
reviews (HAZID, HAZOP).
• Contribute to IP register; Suggest new patentable IP and support knowledge
management.
• Support dissemination activities.
