Job Duties

Performs professional level work of moderate difficulty requiring the application of accounting theory and principles. Characteristic duties: develop methods of recording fiscal transactions, allocate, funds, update and maintain accounting systems, independently prepare financial statements/reports/cost analyses, and develop and present budgets and other financial information for review. Other major duties: all functions of compensation accounting that includes assuring timely processing of payrolls, distributions or checks, preparing federal/state tax reporting, fringe benefits, and premium conversion. May supervise or lead fiscal paraprofessionals and.or other support personnel.

May be assigned to one or more program offices. Will primarily perform the following:

Accounts Payable & Receivable
• Review and process accounting transactions for assigned program area
• Reviews vouchers and accounts receivable reports to assure they are complete and technically correct
• Downloads CARS reports for reconciliation process
• Assures accounting vouchers are coded accurately

Fiscal Reports & Reconciliation
• Prepares reports for division or assigned program area
• Independently collects, researches, formats, and provides data for decision makers
• Monitors data and reconciles errors between financial systems and reports
• Ensures corrective action is taken to rectify errors identified during the reconciliation process
• Generate ad hoc reports
• May conduct internal audits to assure compliance with processes, procedures and applicable policies

Other Duties
• May be required to perform other duties; may include functions in support of an emergency declaration

Minimum Qualifications
• Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices including cost accounting.
• Knowledge of the use of data processing techniques in maintaining accounting records.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Demonstrated ability to apply and adapt established accounting methods to a variety of financial transactions and records and multiple funding streams.
• Demonstrated ability to design and compile financial reports and statements.

Additional Considerations
• Demonstrated knowledge in Accounting or Business or related experience.
