Description

The Role

As an APS6 Pharmacist, you will be responsible for clinical and professional leadership of Defence pharmacy services at Stirling Health Centre including stock control, ensuring adequate supplies and correct storage of medical and dental materiel in accordance with Defence policies and procedures in a health facility.

You will provide advice on the control of therapeutic substances as required to medical, dental and nursing staff, Base and Unit commanders and consult with medical staff on drug therapy. As part of the role, you will be required to advise on the quality use of medications in accordance with Defence policy and relevant legislative requirements.

You will have a considerable level of stakeholder engagement and will liaise with stakeholders in relation to complex difficult or sensitive issues. You will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders’ needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes. You will contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.

About our Team

Joint Health Command (JHC) is responsible for the delivery of military medicine and joint healthcare services to over 70,000 Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel. JHC is also responsible for the health preparedness of ADF personnel for operations, and the coordination of health units for deployment in support of operations.

The APS6 Pharmacist is part of Joint Health Unit - Western Australia within JHC at Stirling Health Centre, HMAS Stirling, Garden Island, Rockingham. The position will work closely with another pharmacist and the team of health professionals at Stirling Health Centre.
