Join the City of Lee’s Summit’s Information Technology Services group as a Network Administrator. The Network Administrator is part of a highly technical Network Operations team within ITS that manages and administers the City’s network infrastructure, communications and security.

The Network Administrator provides support for the network infrastructure to ensure the ongoing stability and reliability of the City’s computer network in support of current and future technological needs.
Assist in managing the inventory and operation of all network hardware and equipment, including the configuration, optimization, maintenance, documentation, and replacement of routers, switches, hubs, wireless access points, UPSs, and other supporting hardware. Assist in troubleshooting and resolving network infrastructure problems in a timely and accurate fashion, ensuring minimum network downtime and secure dependable network connectivity for all network resources and workstations.Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in computer science or a closely related field.
Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible related experience including PCs, servers, wireless and wired networks required.
Two of the three years of experience must be in administrating network switches and routers in a managed network environment required.
Valid state Motor Vehicle Operator’s license and acceptable driving record required.Deploy, and manage the City’s LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including routers, hubs, switches, UPSs, and other related hardware and software. Schedules, and performs network infrastructure improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
Research new technology, products, and equipment to provide informed recommendations for further consideration. Administrates the City’s security solutions toward the optimal protection of the City’s network resources including firewall, anti-virus, web filtering, and intrusion detection systems.
Assists in the deployment and management of secured wireless and remote access to the City’s network, including encryption and authentication, personal firewalls, root and machine certificates, VPN solutions, and endpoint control.
Completes scheduled preventative maintenance tasks for network resources, including server reboots, DMZ maintenance and updates, and firmware updates. Coordinates and communicates outages to accommodate preventative maintenance efforts and user needs.
Monitors server logs, firewall logs, intrusion detection logs, and network traffic for unusual or suspicious activity. Interprets activity and makes recommendations for resolution.
Monitors, tests, and analyzes network performance and resource usage across the organization’s LANs, WANs, and wireless deployments. Prepares, maintains, and adheres to procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring network performance statistics.
Assist with network asset management, including network equipment replacement lifecycles, hardware and software inventories, and timely maintenance contract renewals.
Creates and maintains complete and accurate documentation as it relates to network configuration, architecture, design and layout, protocols and standards used, network mapping, processes, and service records.
Performs on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of network problems for a variety of end users, and coordinates local area computer network activities by performing duties personally, through vendors, or in cooperation with other co-workers. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of networking contracts and supervises contract-based installations.How We Put You First
