What to Expect Tesla Factory Engineering is looking for a Chemical Systems Design Engineer to join our ProcessDesign team in Austin, TX.

The process design team strives to createthe factory of the future by bringing conceptual designs to life,producing cutting-edgedetailed designs of chemical and utility systemsthat are fully integrated with manufacturing processes.

As a Chemical Process Engineer, you will play a critical role in our efforts to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy.
What You'll Do
Apply engineering fundamentals anda broad set of process engineering tools to solve technicalproblems and create novel detailed designs for hazardous gas andchemical systems such as refrigerants, cryogenic gases, viscous fluids,corrosive fluids, reactive fluids, and flammable fluids
Provideprocess engineering support to operations to help resolve process bottlenecksand other long-standing issues
Providetechnical expertise to the engineering/design team and other groups within Tesla asa subject matter expect (SME)
Leadfront-end and detailed process designs including thefollowing deliverables:
Scope development and Basis ofDesign document development
PFDs, P&IDsand3D pipe design development, includingpressure drop analysis, Aspen simulation where required, pressure relief valvecalculations, and Pipe-Flo modeling
Sequence of Operations / Controls Narrative documents

Participatein field construction and commissioning activities by serving as the point ofcontact for technical questions and real-time issue resolution.
This is not an on-call position

Review processdesign work performed by others on the Process Team to ensure every designmaintains the highest level of quality, including P&ID's, plan drawings,and single-line iso's.
Mentor less experienced engineers on the team
Review and/orupdate master piping and equipment specifications
What You'll Bring
~ Bachelor'sDegree in Chemical Engineering
~6+ years of experience in hazardouschemical Process Design, Process Improvement or Operations within ahigh-tech industry such as semiconductor, specialty chemical, solar, battery,etc. A combination of experience with an owner operator and an EPC firm ishighly desired
~ Registrationas a Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas is preferred or the ability to obtaincomity licensure within 6 months but is not required
~ Subjectmatter expertise related to OSHA requirements for hazardous systems andmaintenance access, ASME pressure vessel and piping codes, NFPA codes such as NFPA30 and 55, and relevant building codes
~ Ability tolead or participate in reactive chemical process hazard evaluations and HAZOPreviews of PSM-covered and other hazardous chemical systems
~ Workingknowledge of AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam, Aspen Plus, Aspen HYSYS,and Pipe-Flo. Design engineers are not required to useRevit, but Revit experience is a plus
~ Ability toadapt, multi-task and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment withevolving changes in design requirements
~ A positive, "do the impossible"attitude and ability to communicate with peers and stakeholders at all levelsincluding piping designers, stress engineers, other engineering disciplines,customers, and executives
