Job Summary:
The Undersea Sensors and Structures (USS) Department leads mechanical design, development, and integration of undersea systems. This includes radar, torpedo and sonar systems, hardware integration, packaging, and cable & interconnections. The department is comprised of individuals with technical expertise and experience in hardware design, integration, and production support. USS has a broad-based bench strength which allows support to surface based sea systems and ground-based systems.

The USS department is seeking a summer-2024 mechanical engineering intern to perform research, design, analysis, and development in such areas as mechanical systems, thermal systems, materials, test equipment, hardware processes, or manufacturing processes. You would apply your skills to the planning, design, development and testing of mechanical and/or electro-mechanical systems, instruments, controls, and/or machines.

This position is a hybrid role, and the selected applicant will work with the hiring manager to set schedule.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
• Training and application of RTX tools including CREO and PDM
• Design and Documentation support utilizing engineering tools, Adobe, and MS office suite.
• Engineering Change and Drawing Release
• Collaboration with coworkers and diverse teams.
• Analytical and Technical engineering work within a program environment with possible presentations on designs as needed.
• Training on Raytheon processes and procedures

This position can be a technical intern based on the candidate's classification as determined by grad year on resume and provided via questionnaire by candidate as outlined below:
• (Sophomore Technical) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program
• (Junior Technical) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program
• (Senior Technical) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program
• (Post-Graduate Technical) must have an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a graduate degree program (in degree fields listed in Qualifications) by start of internship

Basic Qualifications:
• Must be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Post-Graduate by the start of summer 2024 in Mechanical Engineering
• Experience utilizing CAD (Computer Aided Design) tools such as CREO or equivalent
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
• 3.0 cumulative GPA desired
• Prior engineering project or internship experience
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Microsoft Office or other presentation tools
• Active Secret Security clearance
• Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with coworkers on cross-function teams from diverse communities and cultures.
