Network Administrator (Mqtt) - Pontiac, Michigan: This is a contract or contract-to-permanent opportunity!

We are seeking a skilled Mqtt Broker with a strong background in IoT (connected devices) to join our team. The Mqtt Broker will play a pivotal role in our IoT infrastructure, ensuring efficient and secure message communication between IoT devices, applications, and the cloud. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Mqtt IoT protocols, Kafka dB administration and related network Infrastructure technologies. This person must have experience implementing and administering Mqtt. Once Mqtt has been implemented this will become a Network Administration role with training on their new tech stack.

Specific Duties:
• Setting and Administering Mqtt Broker server uptime, patching, troubleshooting, software installations, network traffic from/to IoT devices, etc…
• Setting and Administering Kafka DB administration
• Perform installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT infrastructure equipment and software, related to networking wired and wireless, telecommunications, servers, and computer systems.
• Perform open-source software installations, configurations, and upgrades, across the Company’s computer systems
• Perform daily operations and functions within the IT infrastructure environment such as patching, endpoint deployment, and monitoring of system performance.
• Implement robust security measures, including authentication, authorization, and encryption, to protect the Mqtt broker and IoT devices from potential threats.
• Follow established processes and propose process improvements where applicable and relevant.
• Follow best practices with respect to package deployment and overall compliance check-ins.
• Participate in technical discussions, develop, and if needed, present required briefing materials to IT management and/or other internal customers as required.

Required Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to solve technical and operational problems in a timely manner.
• Strong IT Project management experience.
• Strong knowledge of Mqtt Broker Server Administration
• Knowledge of Kafka DB Administration
• Working knowledge of Network Traffic through various devices
• Working knowledge of Server Administration from Windows 2008R2/2012R2/2016/2019 Server.
• Working knowledge of VMware server virtualization technology.
• Working knowledge of VMware Horizon or Citrix XenDesktop.
• Working knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.

Preferred
• Understanding of shop floor automation and a deep understanding of IOT is preferred but not required
• MCSA or MCSE is preferred but not required.

U.S. Citizenship or permanent resident alien status is required.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology or a related field.
