Do you have the ambition, enthusiasm and technical capability to work with us as an Environmental Engineer within the Water Management and Natural Capital Sector? Our highly respected Water Management Consultancy team continues to grow, as we deliver a wide range of exciting, high-profile projects for a variety of clients and projects, including water companies, the Environment Agency, large Infrastructure consortia, developers, NGOs and landowners. You will be a key member of the team providing environmental engineering input across a wide and diverse range of projects, reinforcing our reputation for technical excellence and working collaboratively to deliver work across our extensive client portfolio, ultimately enabling the industry to plan resilient and sustainable water management and water supplies for the future.

As an environmental engineer, you will be capable of working on your own and as part of a team to deliver high-profile projects across the UK as required. We would expect the role to grow over time to incorporate project management and work winning. With our technical specialists based all across the UK, the right candidate could join our established teams in Birmingham, Bristol, Derby, Epsom, Glasgow, Oxford, Peterborough, or Warrington.

Responsibilities

Working across our well-established and successful Water Resources Management Plans, Drinking Water Management Plans, sustainable river management and water quality technical teams, you will play an important role in delivering water management expertise to a diverse client and project portfolio. You will also have the opportunity to provide environmental engineering input into our growing natural capital and nature-based solutions teams, contributing to a wide range of projects across the Environment business; including in water management, water quality, climate adaptation, sustainable finance, nature-based carbon removals, habitat restoration, environmental planning, and designing future-ready cities.

We’re looking for someone who pays attention to detail, with a desire to work to high standards consistently, who has excellent collaborative working skills to ensure we get the best from our working relationships with internal and external client teams. We will provide support and training alongside this and ensure you can undertake Continuing Professional Development in accordance with requirements of your chosen professional institution.

What We’re Looking For

You will be highly motivated and proactive, with a confident and professional manner. You will have excellent numerical, analytical, report-writing and presentational skills. You should have some experience in design or construction and be comfortable working with spreadsheets and large datasets. The ability to use GIS, Python and/or CAD would be an advantage. Your excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively at all levels will suit collaborative working and the building of excellent client relationships. An interest and ability to develop new and innovative approaches is encouraged, to help us develop our digital tools.

With a degree or higher in a civil engineering, environmental engineering or a science subject, you will ideally be aiming to achieve chartership through CIWEM, ICE or another professional body.

Rewards And Benefits

We offer a competitive salary that is regularly tested against other consultants with a default 25-days leave each year plus bank holidays and options to buy some or sell of that leave. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
