The vacancy is for a Senior Project Manager on the Team Tempest / GCAP (Global Combat Air Programme) next generation fighter aircraft for the UK, Italy and Japan. The role is an exciting opportunity to develop and demonstrate emerging EO/IR (ElectroOptic/InfraRed) technologies and capabilities, ensuring solutions are realised to meet the future needs of combat air and provide business growth opportunities for Leonardo. The role is Edinburgh based within the Advanced Targeting group.

Key Responsibilities
• As part of the Project Management team, you will lead a multi-functional project team, focused on early project and product life - develop and assess concepts, design and develop EOIR sensor systems for the Tempest/GCAP platform.
• Work closely with Leonardo teams in Edinburgh and across the UK.
• Work closely with external stakeholders, including BAE & MOD.
• Manage Tempest/GCAP EOIR projects to schedule, cost and technical compliance.
• Lead and deliver projects to achieve financial targets.
• Adherence to Leonardo's Lifecycle Management, tailored to early development needs.
• Anticipate, mitigate and manage dependencies, risks and synergies to maximise business performance.

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required
• Ideally experienced managing development projects including effective change management.
• Working knowledge of the Leonardo policies & practices in particular related to Life Cycle Management, Risk Management and Project Execution. Exposure and experience in all aspects of project planning, scheduling, work package management and cost control.
• Pro-active and motivated, striving for continuous improvement, effectiveness and efficiency and with a focus on achieving high performance against objectives.
• Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise workload and to work autonomously.
• Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to think laterally.
• Ideally experienced in leading and managing bids.
• Typically degree qualified in a business or engineering discipline.
• Typically meets the requirements for registration as a full member of the Association for Project Managers (APM).

Intrinsic Factors
• The project manager role is in the Research & Technology Demonstration IPT within the Advanced Targeting business area.
• Engagement with customers in the UK and UK travel will be required.
• International travel will be required as international partnerships are developed.
• Applicants must have UK citizenship due to the security requirements of the programme.

Applicants will be expected to mix on site and work from home (minimum 2 days on site in Edinburgh) in line with programme security classifications and demands, and in line with Leonardo custom working guidelines.
