The Digital, Data, and Design (D^3) Institute at Harvard is accepting applications for a talented and motivated AI Engineer to join our Research and Data Science group. The successful candidate will be responsible for helping us design, build, and deploy AI-driven solutions that improve our products and services. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects, collaborate with experienced AI engineers, and learn from industry experts. The AI Engineer will report directly to the Head of Research and Data Science who will allocate and manage requests of the team.

Responsibilities Include:
• Build programs by leveraging Generative AI models.
• Experience in accessing and utilizing open-source large language models.
• Ability to perform pretraining and fine tuning of large language models.
• Assist with the development of AI models and algorithms to solve business problems.
• Help design and implement data pipelines for large-scale data processing.
• Conduct experiments and perform statistical analysis to evaluate model performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI solutions into existing products and services.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging of AI systems.
• Build and engineer infrastructure on the cloud (AWS/GCP)

This role is also responsible for other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications
• Minimum of seven years’ post-secondary education or relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications And Skills

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required
• Strong programming skills in Python
• Familiarity with machine learning and deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn
• Experience with deploying models to the cloud (AWS/ GCP)
• Hands-on experience in using cutting edge Machine learning services such as Generative AI (GPT 4 API, LLaMa models, StableLM, etc).
• Experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as Plotly and Matplotlib

Additional Qualifications:
• Knowledge of software development best practices, including version control, testing, and debugging
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.

Additional Information

This role is offered as a hybrid (some combination of onsite and remote) where you are required to be onsite at our Boston, MA based campus 3 days per week. Specific days and schedule will be determined between you and your manager.
