Job Description

What you will do

We now have an exciting opportunity to join our team working as a Senior Database Administrator reporting into the Platform and Cloud Lead. You will be given exposure to some of the latest technologies available in database solutions. You will also be given time to train on these technologies and pass multiple certifications to develop their career. This is an ideal role for someone intrigued by the world of data and technology.

This team is working across several platforms with multiple clients to support and administer the delivery of our client's solutions. You will administer and maintain SQL Server, Big Data and Cloud Environments from a data-centric point of view.
• Oversee and preserve the database estate, which involves monitoring performance and ensuring security
• Develop strategies for database backup and recovery to safeguard data and facilitate disaster recovery
• Resolve database-related issues, collaborating with developers to address database problems
• Conduct database tuning and optimization to meet required performance levels
• Administer database security, including the creation and management of user accounts, assignment of roles and privileges, and monitoring access logs
• Collaborate with other IT personnel to align database environments with organisational goals
• Develop comprehensive database documentation and maintaining them such as data dictionaries, data flow diagrams, and system diagrams
• Remain informed about latest database technologies and industry trends
• Other responsibilities include providing support in administering other technologies supported by the wider team including cloud environments, Hadoop, and Informatica

Qualifications

What we are looking for in you
• 5 years + of expertise as a Database Administrator (DBA) or in a comparable role
• Performance Tuning SQL Server
• Advanced T-SQL
• PowerShell
• Database tuning and optimization
• Familiarity with cloud-based database technologies such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Microsoft Azure
• Collaborative team player
