The Opportunity

This is an on site position that can work out of our Pleasanton, CA site, our fastest growing Medical Devices US Heart Failure Division. This is not a remote position.

Heart Failure is a condition that affects 6 million people in the United States alone, and Abbott’s coordinated effort to bring new medical device solutions to this population is revolutionizing how this debilitating condition is treated in the US and abroad. Abbott is proud to be the market leader across all Heart Failure therapies, with technologies that assist the heart’s ability to pump (Left Ventricular Assist Devices) and implanted remote pressure monitoring technologies that allow doctors to remotely tailor individual patients’ pharmaceutical dosages and slow the progression of heart failure (HF). We are now embarking on multiple strategies to help bring these solutions to more patients and have them become standard-of-care for properly selected patients.

The Sr. Product Manager position will be the internal and external champion for all physician, nurse, and patient stakeholders as it relates to our remote pressure monitoring offerings for heart failure. The selected candidate will be responsible for serving as a key contributor to the strategy, product development and commercialization efforts for HF Monitoring solutions, including a Class III implantable sensor and delivery system designed to enable frictionless acquisition of critical heart failure monitoring information. The person in this position will be regarded as a leader and deep technical expert related to assigned product(s)/product lines with broad knowledge of related fields.

What You’ll Work On
• Experience managing and developing requirements for software and complex algorithms.
• Monitor, analyze, and evaluate domestic and international market trends, consumer behavior and competitor activity to identify unmet needs and market opportunities.
• Provide guidance and support on related product development activities, market development activities, and collaboration with regional sales and marketing teams to ensure world-class commercialization
• Clearly define user needs/customer requirements, product positioning, key issues, strategies, and target audiences for assigned product(s)/product lines/ or services.
• Set global value proposition and key messaging for assigned products
• Collect and socialize voice-of-customer input via frequent interactions with physicians, nurses, patients, and our field organization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues to develop integrated business plans for assigned programs.
• Partner with clinical and systems engineering colleagues to shape customer requirements.
• Work with regional marketing partners and marketing communications as a subject matter expert to support development of launch materials, product literature, and any other collateral material required to support sales and key marketing messages.
• Present product and marketing plans to internal management, including executives.
• Build strong relationships with regional commercial teams to ensure successful launch of new sites / new products.
• Build strong relationships with leading clinicians around the world.
• Comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.

Required Qualifications
• BS Degree
• 8+ years progressively responsible marketing experience in the medical device industry. Experience with Design Thinking or Bio Design methodology a plus.
• High comfort level with clinical and technical complexity, anchored by a user-centric mindset.
• Demonstrated ability to build business proposals, define scope and requirements, and serve as a lead contributor throughout a Phase-Gate development project, including product commercialization.
• Ability to develop, rationalize, and present strategy
• Proven leadership and influence management skills/experience, including the ability to map task interdependencies, prioritize such tasks, forecast major milestones, and develop, monitor and live within budgets.
• Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
• Ability to lead and work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment.
• Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish objectives.
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels, both internally and externally.
• Strong organizational, prioritization and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
• Flexibility to work across multiple time zones, with heavy team distribution in Eastern and Central US.
• Ability to travel up to 25%, including internationally

The base pay for this position is $118,100.00 – $236,100.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
