PROJECT MANAGER

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our team in the delivery of expert project, programme, and portfolio support to a key client.

Our client operates an R&D and manufacturing facility that supports critical UK infrastructure. They are currently delivering a multi-billion £ upgrade to the site’s capability which will be completed in the next decade and support the UK’s national security for several decades to come. The delivery of such a significant programme presents several challenges. We are working with the client to assist in developing the delivery strategy and programme optimisation. Areas of challenge are resourcing, logistics and programmatic interdependencies.

ROLE INFORMATION

Within the overall programme the Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and guiding a project from start to finish. They are responsible for ensuring that the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. They do this by creating a project plan, setting goals and deadlines, assigning tasks to team members, monitoring progress, and adjusting as needed. They also communicate regularly with stakeholders to keep them informed of progress and address any concerns or issues that arise. In large or complex projects the Project Manager may deliver specific sub packages of work aligned to the overall project deliverables in order to assist the Senior Project Manager delivering the project.

CORE RESPONSIBILITES

Dependent on the scale or complexity of the project, the Project Manager will deliver either a specific stand-alone project or a sub package of work as part of a major project/programme.

The Project Manager:

Builds the collaborative working culture (within KBR and between the Client and other delivery partners) to ensure the success of the overall programme.

Ensures that safety and security is actively managed on the project in accordance with KBR’s Zero Harm safety management process and the client’s safety and environmental objectives.

Plans and defines project scope, goals, and deliverables, as well as determines resources required to complete the project.

Assigns tasks to team members and ensures they have the necessary resources to complete their work.

Oversees and directs the project team to accomplish project objectives, monitors progress, and adjusts plans as necessary.

Controls change and configuration management to ensure the required outcomes are delivered in line with the Contractual requirements.

Liaises with the cost and contract management team to ensure the impact of any scope changes are recorded and the Contract scope is modified as required.

Tracks project performance, identifies and manages risks, and makes necessary changes to ensure the project stays on track.

Maintains good community and supplier relations and participation.

Brings industry best practice into the team.

Assures project execution is in accordance with Client and KBR policies, procedures and systems. Any conflict between these requirements must be brought to the attention of the Senior Project Manager/Project Director for resolution.

Updates the Senior Project Manager/Project Director through submission of monthly reporting data in the required format.

Upholds and promotes the KBR Code of Business Conduct.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Minimum of 10 years project experience, with at least 5 years at Project Manager level preferably in Nuclear or oil & gas/other regulated industry.

Demonstrable performance of delivering a diverse range of projects including development and implementation of project execution plans covering the entire project life cycle.

Experience of working with integrated teams in a collaborative environment.

Excellent communicator, and team builder.

British Citizen with a minimum of 10 years residing in the UK as HMG Security Clearance will be required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

Engineering / Science / Management degree or lower than degree qualification supported by a Registered Project Professional (RPP) APM qualification.

APM Project Management qualification or Managing Successful Programmes qualification or equivalent. e.g. PMQ or PMI PMP.

Desirable:

Higher Degree in Engineering/Science/Management.

Member of APM or PMI.
