Job Description

Senior PACS Administrator

Description:

Plans, designs and maintains the Picture Archive and Computer System (PACS) or similar clinical image archiving and viewing solutions.

Essential Functions:
• Implements and maintains PACS systems to include image data maintenance and image archive and display.
• Works with information technology to efficiently process data information.
• Documents system requirements; acts as a liaison between radiology/cardiology or other clinical staff, radiologists/cardiologists, and ordering physicians in designing the structure of a system.
• Trains clinical staff and other users (as needed) on how to use the system; acquire electronic images; QC image data; display image data and archive image data. Integrates PACS system to provide efficient processes for image interpretation.
• Performs other duties as requested by management.

Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in the clinical area is required, including system implementation, maintenance, documentation and training with a radiology or similar system.
• Bachelor''s degree in management information systems, health care management, radiological technology, or related field OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
• High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

Additional Requirements:
• Demonstrated knowledge of radiology/cardiology (or similar) information systems is required, in addition to word-processing, spreadsheet/graphics and database applications.
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, are required, as well as the ability to vary communication according to the expertise of the user.
• Demonstrated abilities in leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Additional system experience may be substituted for the clinical experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledgeable with Powerscribe 360 voice recognition software
• Knowledgeable with HL7 and DICOM Protocols
• Quality assurance involvement preferred.
• Familiarity or experience with HL7 interface monitoring, troubleshooting, or remediation
• Ability to solution or architect new applications or devices into an existing healthcare IT environment
• PARCA or CIIP Certified PACS Administrator Preferred
• AART Certified Radiology Technologist Preferred

Top 3-5 Daily Responsibilities:
• Monitor & maintain the health of imaging systems, their viewers, and archives
• Troubleshoot & resolved issues reported by clinical staff
• Participate in implementing, configuring, training, and documenting new imaging system installations and/or upgrades

Top 3-5 Required Skills:
• Experience in managing clinical imaging applications and/or PACS
• Experience with DICOM or HL7 protocols
• Understanding clinical workflow, its related requirements, and the importance of our supporting role

Desired Skills:
• Experience supporting Agfa PACS, McKesson Cardiology PACS, Merge Eye Care PACS, Hyland VNA, Hyland OnBase, Pentax GI, Philips IECG or other Healthcare IT applications
• Experience with the HL7 interface protocol and/or the ability to manipulate messaging
• Desktop/Workstation/Server support experience
