Description

Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.

Hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora,你好, hallo, vítejte!

Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.

Where and how you can work

Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're near one), at home or a bit of both, it's up to you.

About the team

The mission of our central strategy team is to support all of Canva in driving toward our crazy big goals! We do this by bringing a structured approach to solving business problems, informing key decisions, identifying and recommending growth opportunities, and ensuring Canva is focused on the most impactful priorities. Our team sits within the Growth Supergroup, though we support leadership right across the business. The Growth Supergroup is responsible for driving engagement and monetisation of our product. Sitting in Growth allows us to have direct relationships with product teams to help us make the most informed recommendations possible on strategic initiatives.

The remit of our team is diverse - we have supported Canva leadership on tackling big problems anchored in the Canva product. Examples include ‘how can we adapt Canva’s subscription tiers to accelerate growth?’, ‘how can we drive traffic to Canva from acquisitions?’, ‘how should we price our Teams product in different regions?’ and ‘what industries should we target in our B2B go-to-market strategy?’ - amongst many more! We’re super excited to continue to drive impact on cross-Canva initiatives in 2024.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

In this Data Scientist role, you will join our team of Product Growth Managers and other Data Scientists in delivering on strategic projects for leadership across the business. On a typical project, you will be a strategic data partner working closely with Product Growth Managers and other Data specialists across the organisation, using your sound technical and commercial skillset to deliver analysis and help inform recommendations.

No two days are the same! You’ll be able to take on novel strategic challenges and work with a diverse range of stakeholders and teams across the full Canva business. We also encourage you to proactively identify what the next big opportunity for our team to support on might be.

At the moment, this role is focused on:
• Partner with Product Growth Managers to tackle impactful strategic problems from right across the business.
• Use creative problem solving to find insights that help us understand both Canva and our customers
• Look for opportunities that will actually move our metrics - when we push tests to 100% we want to actually see the bump in the relevant graph.
• Own projects, data models, dashboards, and other artefacts and keep them up-to-date and of a high quality in a hypergrowth environment.
• Use our giant databases to answer the sort of questions that sound really simple but turn out to be challenging (and fun!).
• Help us extend data literacy and curiosity throughout the whole company.

You're probably a match if
• You have strong competency with SQL; data wrangling and analysing data using Python or R is a plus!
• You can demonstrate skills in using data analysis to arrive at commercial insights
• You have a solutions-focused approach and are able to drive projects to completion, including technical delivery as well as excellent stakeholder management
• You have sound commercial aptitude, with product role experience a plus
• 3+ years relevant work experience
• You may have a grounding in mathematics/statistics and a bachelor's degree in a STEM area (not mandatory)
• You are a strong communicator, verbally and written, with the ability able to break down complex topics into simple solutions and ideas

What's in it for you?

You will be supported by the data gurus on the team, you’ll be able to accelerate your technical skillset whilst focusing on Canva’s most impactful problems

A key focus in this role is the opportunity to demonstrate and develop your commercial skillset - we aren’t looking for a ‘data monkey’, we want you to use your skill with data to identify impactful recommendations for our business!

Achieving our crazy big goals motivates us to work hard - and we do - but you'll experience lots of moments of magic, connectivity and fun woven throughout life at Canva, too. We also offer a stack of benefits to set you up for every success in and outside of work.

Here's a taste of what's on offer:
• Equity packages - we want our success to be yours too
• Inclusive parental leave policy that supports all parents & carers
• An annual Vibe & Thrive allowance to support your wellbeing, social connection, office setup & more
• Flexible leave options that empower you to be a force for good, take time to recharge and supports you personally
