NUVIA UK's Technical Services department are recruiting for experienced Process Engineers. These are embedded opportunities, supporting one of our leading clients within the nuclear industry. Location wise, you will be based out of the client's office at Birchwood Park in Warrington, on a hybrid basis. Please note we can also recruit on a permanent basis, if this is your preference.

This is a part time requirement - 0.5 FTE

Please note the ability to obtain BPSS level security clearance is essential, as a minimum.

About The Role:

The LBMR project is tasked with the removal and disposal of a series of redundant chemical tanks from a plant within the SNM portfolio. These tanks have contained a variety of chemicals, many of which have could give rise to explosion hazards and/or other chemotoxic issues. There are no records to confirm how well these tanks were cleaned out at the end of their operating lives, so it must be assumed that residues remain. Work to characterise the residual contents is planned but this cannot take place until work is done to assess the hazards and put suitable mitigations in place. The results of this characterisation will then need to be used to define any mitigations that need to be put in place before the tanks can be removed and may influence the disposal route / method.

To assess the potential contrents of the tanks from the perspective of:
• Explosion hazards (DSEAR assessment)
• Chemical hazards (chemotoxic assessments)
• To define suitable mitigating measures to ensure characterisation can be undertaken safely and to support definition of the removal procedure.
• This will encompass engagement with a range of stakeholders and specialists.

Essential Experience & Qualifications:
• Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent engineering discipline)
• Proactive and driven approach to work.Good communication skills and ability to work with other team members / disciplines.
• Competent report writing skills: clearly and concisely reporting findings.
• Comfortable working under time and cost constraints.
• Experience of dealing with chemical & chemotoxic hazards.

Security Clearance Requirements:
• BPSS essential, SC clearance preferred.
