Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking to add an Environmental Engineer for our Boston, Massachusetts or Chelmsford, Massachusetts office. Our business focuses primarily on providing professional and technical services in engineering design, code consultation, and construction phase services for a wide variety of clients both in the private and public sectors. We execute large and complex engineering projects and provide a comprehensive range of professional planning and design, systems engineering and technical assistance, program and construction management, and operations and maintenance services.
The Environmental Engineer will serve as a team member in the office and the field, assisting project and program management with design and implementation of soil and sediment investigation and remediation programs, data analysis, and report preparation.
This position is expected to begin May 2024.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Preparation of calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and design drawings under the supervision of experienced engineers.
- Participating in site visits at industrial, federal, commercial, and municipal client facilities.
- Performing work in accordance with project budgets and schedules.
- Environmental sampling (e.g., soil, sediment, groundwater, stormwater, wastewater, air, and hazardous waste).
- Development of technical memoranda and reports.
- Development of knowledge of job-specific federal, state, and local laws and regulations and job specifications.
- Building analytical and engineering design skills under the supervision of experienced engineers.
- Using computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
- Travelling locally with occasional extended travel within the U.S.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Valid U.S. Driver's License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
- As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in standard Microsoft Office suite software applications.
- Basic knowledge of industry-standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, and Bluebeam).
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification.
- Ability to demonstrate professional demeanor in written and verbal communications with clients, regulatory officials, and colleagues.
- Ability to write and to convey complex thoughts and ideas in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to learn through on-the-job experience.
- Tolerance for work in outdoor environments in a range of weather conditions.
- Ability to work independently, both in an office environment and in the field.

- Offered rate of compensation (Massachusetts locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $61,143.89 - $84,072.85/year.
