Position Overview:

The Statistician/Data Scientist is responsible for building and deploying advanced analytics solutions to support Lilly’s sales and marketing teams.

The Statistician/Data Scientist will be part of a growing and dynamic team of business analysts, statisticians, and data/ML engineers using data and analytics to help Lilly patients. The position will leverage their deep understanding of statistics, data science, and AI/ML to build advanced models and innovative analytics solutions. The position will partner and collaborate across a wide group of cross functional partners to identify and translate business problems into analytics solutions. This analytics professional will be responsible for developing data-driven insights and ensuring business decisions are supported by analytics.

The position will report to the Sr. Director - Business Insights & Analytics (BI&A) HCP Data Science.

Key Objectives:
• Drive impact for Lilly sales and marketing using statistics and AI/ML models.
• Translate business needs and questions into analytics problems. Identify the appropriate methodology to solve business problems, such as designed experiments, causal inference, time series forecasting, predictive analytics, etc.
• Be a thought leader in statistics and AI/ML for sales and marketing, including developing expertise and consulting in a specific analytics domain.
• Collaborate closely with technical and non-technical partners across Lilly. Work effectively across a global team of data scientists, data engineers, and ML engineers to build scalable modeling pipelines.
• Stay current with latest statistics, data science, and AI/ML methodologies for use in sales and marketing analytics.

Position Requirements (Transferable Skills):
• PhD in Statistics, Economics, Computational Finance, Mathematics, or equivalent quant degree preferred, or master’s with 3+ years post-degree of hands-on analytics experience.
• Experience with a variety of statistical concepts and AI/ML models, such as experimental design, causal inference, classification, forecasting, and predictive modeling.
• Ability to think strategically and work independently in a dynamic and ambiguous environment.
• Proficiency with at least one programming languages (R and/or Python preferred).
• Experience using Github or other tools for technical collaboration.
• Ability to work across teams and build Team Lilly culture.

Additional Preferences:
• Prior experience using statistics and machine learning techniques to solve real-world business problems. Experience driving impact and adoption of analytics solutions.
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with healthcare data is a plus.
• High level of motivation and a strong desire to find creative solutions to challenging situations.
